Approximately 70 parents spent the afternoon tailgating with their sons at the ΣAE Alumni House...1st-class all-the-way.
It was great spending time with our loved ones and getting to know more about Alabama Epsilon. Here are a few pics with many more to be added.
A BIG thanks to Alumni Brother David Britton (a.k.a. YDB) and his wife Brookie for hosting/sponsoring this year's amazing gathering. Obviously, it was Brookie's vision that created an almost RitzCarlton-like experience. YDB spent most of the day waving his hands while he talked and gave parents tours of our Alumni House.
The impact we are having on these young men is enormous.
Plus, Troy finally won!!! On to next week.

Hosting 1st-class events is was cheap, but thanks to the generous donation from the Britton Family, we were able to deliver one of the best Parents Weekend ever hosted on campus - and that's not debatable. No amount is too small....weekly, every pay-period, monthly or one-time. It all adds up.

Congratulations to David Ames for being named tonight as Outstanding Chapter Advisor to Alabama Epsilon by ΣAE Nationals. Earlier in the academic year, David was awarded the Order of the Lion from ΣAE Nationals.
Congratulations to John Baxley Sanders for being named tonight as Outstanding Chapter Eminent Archon for Alabama Epsilon by ΣAE Nationals.
Other than winning the ΣAE World Series, this might be the first National Awards Alabama Epsilon has ever won?
As mentioned, none of this would be remotely possible without your continued support....and it's needed now, maybe more than ever. We need to be in position to upgrade our current housing situation by the end of this school year. Let's go guys...one-time or every pay-period. It doesn't matter.

Guy Preston has become a foundational benefactor for our Billy Levere Circle of Excellence Casey Lee Houston Circle of Excellence.
His generous donations enhance our Alumni Association’s ability to support our Chapter and provide educational and support services for the undergraduate and graduating brothers of Alabama Epsilon. Helping give them the tools and skills needed to succeed during their time on campus and once they leave Troy.
The brothers of Alabama Epsilon helped me a lot to get through college. When I graduated from Troy, I sold my books and had $40 in my pocket when I walked off campus; today, I am beyond fortunate and super-stoked to be in a position to support our fraternity – both undergraduates and alumni. Brotherhood creates lasting friendships and memories. There is no amount of money that can buy the fire we each have for Alabama Epsilon...
This is a great time for our chapter. The buzz around Troy is getting louder. Interest from quality young men on campus is very high. There are things happening behind the scenes that are exciting as well. Support has been amazing and our Wall of Excellence continues to grow. But for Alabama Epsilon to succeed, we need everyone to contribute at whatever you are comfortable with - either one-time, monthly, weekly or whatever. We have a great team in place to guide our Chapter and manage our finances. And solid plans in place as well.
If you have any questions, touch base with me or David Ames.

In 1861, John B. Kent was the last ΣAE to leave the Kentucky Military Institute to go fight in the American Civil War. He trusted Lucy Pattie with the fraternity ritual and other important documents until he, or somebody else came back for them and shook her hand with the fraternity grip. Sadly, Kent was killed in action and never returned. Many brothers did survive and tried to retrieve the ritual and papers from her only to be rebuffed. She held on to the fraternity secrets until 1870 when a brother who knew Kent and heard the story, walked up to Lucy and gave her the grip. She remained active with ΣAE until her last days – Billy Levere even came to Kentucky and personally gave her a Founder’s Badge in 1919, three years before her passing.
While much has been romanticized about Lucy saving the ΣAE Fraternity, she did indeed save Kentucky Chi when it otherwise could have been lost. And while not as dramatic a story as Kentucky Chi, we have been blessed to have a long history of women who have poured their hearts into our Fraternity. We are forever grateful for their love and support and loyalty to Alabama Epsilon.
With that in mind, we are proud to recognize Allie Kathryn Scarbrough as Alabama Epsilon’s Lucy Pattie for the 2023-24 school year, and do commend this observance to all Brothers, Alumni Brothers and Founding Brothers.
Allie is a Junior at Troy and a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She is from Troy and is the daughter of Paul & Jamie Scarbrough.
If you see her on campus or at the Alumni House, be sure to tell her thank you.
Thanks to a generous donation by Danny Lee and Little Sister Linda Lee DiLullo in the name of their older brother, we are proud to announce the “John Scott Lee Trojan Warrior Room” dedicated to our brothers who represented the Fraternity and University at the highest level of collegiate athletics.
Initiated in 1981, Scott ran Cross Country and Track for Troy State University. He represents a long list of Alabama Epsilon brothers who played collegiate athletics, contributing to 4 National Championships and multiple Conference Championship teams. Two brothers continued their sports at the professional level, including 4 seasons in Major League Baseball and one is a member of the Troy Baseball Hall of Fame.
Brother Lee passed away in April 2019. Scott possessed a great passion for running, cycling, swimming, and competing in triathlons and biathlons throughout his life.

Alabama Epsilon has a long history of dynamic duo Sweethearts...Vicky Marshall and Carly Green; Kristi Smith and Samantha Brown; Beth Sumner, Leigh Anne Richards and that whole crew are a few that come to mind. It was Alabama Epsilon 24/7 with them and we are glad to see that tradition continue with Ella Baker and Lydia Dabbs being selected as 2023-2024 Sweethearts.
As with our Rush and Bid process, we just don't hand out these titles to anyone. Ella and Lydia are amazing representatives of our fraternity. If there is an Alabama Epsilon event going on in Troy, or New Orleans or Birmingham you can count on them being there front and center. We are glad, and fortunate to have them in our family.
43 years ago, Alabama Epsilon joined the realm of Sigma Alpha Epsilon – the 222nd chapter of the national fraternity.
Throughout a majority of its 40-year history, the Alabama Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been considered one of the leading organizations on the campus of Troy University. Our brothers have participated in wide range of on-campus leadership roles, including IFC, SGA and as members of Troy's NCAA Football, Basketball, Baseball, Cross Country, Track & Field and Golf programs.
Today, a majority of the chapter’s alumni members excel in the Corporate and Public-sector worlds. Alumni of Alabama Epsilon remain active and support Troy University – at a higher participation rate than most alumni.
On Friday, October 6th a new era and new generation of leaders were initiated. Over 250 attended the banquet and celebration afterwards. ΣAE Chief Executive Officer Chris Hancock; Chief Operating Officer Spencer Long; Chapter Services Consultant Anthony Mack and Assistant Director of Growth, Cullen Kerrigan all were in attendance.

Rob Moore becomes a foundational benefactor for our Founder’s Circle of Excellence.
His generous donation enhances our chapter's ability to project a 1st-class brand and help with our recruitment efforts. Without a doubt, the custom designed architectural letters and interior signage make our Alumni House the talk of Troy. He also purchased our new Leo the Lion.
When I first went to Troy, it became quickly apparent that ΣAE stood out. I was drawn to the quality of the members and knew I wanted to be one of them. Turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life and to this day I am happy to call the Men of ΣAE my brothers...
Rob is currently the Principle for BluePoint Resource Partners. BluePoint specializes in sourcing materials and key components as well as providing wholesale fabrication and services for specific finished products. His products and services routinely cover the entire US and North America, including Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Bill Durden becomes the second foundational benefactor for our Billy Levere Circle of Excellence.
His generous donation will enhance our Alumni Association’s ability to build our brand and help with recruitment efforts across several media platforms including electronic and traditional billboard throughout southeast Alabama - including inside Veterans Memorial Stadium.
In 1995, ΣAE helped turn a boy from Dothan into a young man. I learned how to lead people, developed personal confidence and discovered the true meaning of brotherhood. This fraternity helped me start my first business, develop lifelong friendships and adventures that would make Jack Sparrow jealous...
“DollaBill” is currently Vice President of Operations and Creative Director for Durden Outdoor media. He creates thought provoking results-based advertising on static and digital billboard network in Southeast Alabama.
Durden Outdoor currently owns, services and manages 1000+ Static Faces plus a 28-location digital billboard network in 4 S.E. Alabama cities. The Durden Digital Network reaches over 1,000,000 cars per day.

Todd Hutson, Scott Fant and John Ellerbee have dedicated their generous donations towards creating the Dr. James D.C. Robinson “Brother Heroes” Room at the ΣAE Alumni House in Troy, AL. Envisioned as one of two study areas within the Alumni House, the room will also honor our Alabama Epsilon brothers who have served and defended freedom and democracy throughout the world – including World War II combat veteran Dr. Robbie.
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he was a member of the Rhode Island Alpha chapter of ΣAE, Dr. James D. C. Robinson was one of, if not the driving force behind the creation of Alabama Epsilon.
Certainly, without his approval and relationship with then President Ralph Adams, Alabama Epsilon might have never happened. He was part of the installation ceremony. Dr. Robbie served as Executive Vice President for Off-Campus Education and Assistant to the President from the early 70’s until Dr. Adams retirement in 1987.

Prior to his role at Troy, Dr. Robbie served 28 years in the United States Army Air Corps and US Air Force. He flew P-38 “Lightnings” in the Pacific Campaign during World War II where he was credited with 3 confirmed “kills” – although he was always adamant about two other enemy aircraft he had shot down, which would have made him an Ace. He served in Korea and in Vietnam as well. Dr. Robbie was awarded the Legion of Merit, Navy Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal with four Clusters, Army and Air Force Commendation Medals. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 91.

NEW ORLEANS – Dr. Steve Grice, Director of the School of Accountancy at Troy University, was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Faculty Member of the Year on Monday.
The annual award recognizes a faculty member from each Sun Belt institution who has a passion for teaching, engaging and inspiring students, while also separating themselves from their peers outside of the classroom by regularly supporting and displaying enthusiasm for the athletics department.
As the Director of Troy University's School of Accountancy and the Botts Professor of Accounting, Grice earned the 2018-19 Outstanding Accounting Educator by the Alabama Society of CPAs.
"Dr Steve Grice is a scholar and role model for our students," Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins said. "He has been recognized at the state and national levels for excellence in teaching, research and service. The SBC could not have selected a more deserving person for this coveted award."
"Without question, my experiences with these young student-athletes have added a flavor to my academic career that is unmatched," Grice said. "It has been an honor to play a small role in their lives."
